In Fleurus, Deltrian is one of those companies that have bounced back. Specializing in air filtration, it has taken advantage of the health crisis to diversify into the production of citizen and surgical masks. The lights have just turned green for its latest addition, the DeltriSafe +, equipped with an antiviral shield.

In record time, the Fleurusienne SME set up two, then four production lines.
"Currently, we manufacture 1.5 million masks / week. Our capacity would allow us to go beyond: between 100 and 120 million masks/year. But the competition, especially from China, is fierce. "
— Jean Kalyvas, Sales and Marketing Director at Deltrian
To distinguish itself from the others, the Fleurusienne company has therefore chosen another register, that of innovation. She has just received certification for her surgical mask type II DeltriSafe+. It has been on sale since Friday
last on its site, at the price of 29€ for the box of 50 masks. And it will soon be in pharmacies. Deltrian has partnered here with Molecular Plasma Group. Based in Luxembourg, this spin-off has developed a coating that inactivates viral particles when they settle on the mask.
"This eliminates the risk of contamination when handling the masks. That is about twenty times per minute. "
— Jean Kalyvas, Sales and Marketing Director at Deltrian
This ultra-thin coating is placed on the outer face of the mask. It is made from citric acid, the same acid used in food or cosmetics.
"Rest assured, it is totally harmless for the wearer of the mask: there are 1,000 times less citric acid than in a sour candy... "
— Jean Kalyvas, Sales and Marketing Director at Deltrian
His performances are impressive. In just a few minutes, this coating deactivates 99.9% of viruses, including the coronavirus responsible for Covid-19. It also filters 98% of bacterial particles. All with preserved comfort: the DeltriSafe Mask can be worn for 8 hours while guaranteeing its effectiveness and breathability. The installation of this viral shield takes place in the Fleurusiennes facilities of Deltrian, thanks to the recent acquisition, for one million euros, of a new machine.
Deltrian is now awaiting certification of this antiviral process for its type IIR surgical masks, those which also protect against the projection of droplets and bodily fluids. The lights could turn green in the next few days.
And the events will also follow one another for the Fleurusienne SME. In April, thanks to its collaboration with NanOx, a Wépion start-up, Deltrian should further expand its range with the Deltrinox, a reusable silicone mask for healthcare professionals. But not only ! It is also an excellent parade against fine dust. It should also interest the Horeca sector. In the end, its fashion side will not leave you indifferent either…
In terms of jobs, this diversification in the production of masks has allowed the creation of around twenty jobs.
Even if you have to deal with the competition, “Made in Belgium” is still popular.
"We don't complain, even if nothing is ever certain and we have to fight every day. We have chosen not to sell off our prices, but to bet on different, innovative, quality products, made locally and sold at a fair price. "
